Myofascial
massage works with both the muscles and the connective tissue membrane
which covers them (fascia). Damage to the fascia can result in it
being stuck down to the underlying muscle. This affects the blood
flow to the muscle and deprives it of necessary oxygen.
During
myofascial massage my hands "listen" and the client's
body gives clear signals as to what is needed and where. Pressure,
warmth, breathing, stretching may all be utilized to release the
stuck fascia.
